Paylean® 20 Premix

Paylean is an innovative feed ingredient that provides a scientifically-proven and reliable method of addressing “finisher lag” in pigs. Added to rations 28 days before slaughter, Paylean helps to produce more full-value pigs by improving growth rates, feed efficiency and lean carcass yield.

Registered indications

Paylan 20 Premix is registered for increased rate of gain, improved feed efficiency, increased dressing percentages and increased carcass leanness in finisher pigs.

Proven performance and carcass benefits

Trials conducted throughout the world have consistently demonstrated that Paylean significantly improves liveweight and carcass performance in finisher pigs. One trial found Paylean (10 ppm) increased averaged daily gain by 22.1%, feed efficiency by 17%, carcass weight by 4.8%, dressing percentage by 1.5% and weight of primal cuts by 5.7%.(1) The net economic value of these combined benefits can easily exceed several dollars per head.Paylean can improve profitability of every pig in your shed, regardless of your production system or genetic programme. Producers operating continuous flow systems will benefit from a tighter turn-off period and reduced feed costs. Producers operating all-in/all-out systems will benefit from increased production and quicker turn-off. Those producers who are already achieving good grid consistency will benefit from higher dressing percentages and lean carcass yields.

How Paylean works

Paylean has a unique mode of action that directs nutrients to increase production of muscle rather than fat, particularly in the high-value primal cuts. Specifically, it increases protein synthesis inside muscle tissue, effectively increasing the size of muscle fibres and thus muscle mass. The active ingredient has minimal or no effect on other carcass quality factors.

Feeding instructions

Paylean 20 Premix is registered for inclusion in finisher rations at 5–20 ppm ractopamine for 28 days. Ensure the ratio of lysine to other amino acids is optimal and that the ration contains sufficient levels of vitamins and minerals to support rapid rates of lean growth. As a guide, rations containing Paylean should have a minimum of 0.55 grams lysine available per MJ (DE) and an energy content of 13 MJ (DE)/kg. Consult a nutritionist to determine the exact dietary specifications for your operation before using Paylean. Always read the label directions before use.
